Louis XVIII silver Specimen "Abdication Refusal" Medal 1803 SP65 PCGS, Bramsen-261. 49mm. By Andrieu. A historically fascinating medal, struck during the Consular period in France's history, yet in the name of Louis XVIII as King (which he was not at the time). Effectively the Bourbon answer to what they saw as an ongoing interruption to their rightful power. Attractively toned across satiny lustrous fields with intense seafoam and lagoon hue strewn around the peripheries and framing Louis's bust. Housed in a PCGS oversized holder.
