Weimar Republic Obverse and Reverse lead "Zeppelin" 5 Mark Die Trials 1930-A, Berlin mint, 35.5mm wide, 8mm thick, 74.5gm and 68.17gm. Produced on thick lead planchets. The obverse has a dark lead patina, while the reverse displays a bit brighter lead color. The condition is excellent considering the age and softness of lead. The strike is superb, with a few very minor obverse tics and the reverse showing a noticeable ding on the eagle's breast. Overall the condition is AU/UNC, with the noted imperfections. Extremely rare and the only such trials we have seen. We can find no reference listing these pieces.
