Cnut (1016-1035) Penny (c. 1017-1023) MS64 PCGS, Lincoln mint, Sumerlede as moneyer, Quatrefoil type, S-1157, N-781. + CNVT REX ΛNGLORV, crowned bust left; cross to right; all within quatrefoil / + SV | MER | LEÐ M | O LII, voided long cross with crescent ends over quatrefoil with a pellet at each apex. A fairly sharply struck piece, with an incredible degree of toning that is comprised of burnt sienna and russet gold. This wondrous near-gem is one of the finest of the type which we have offered.
