Charles II 1/2 Crown 1683 MS62 NGC, KM483.1, ESC-490, S-3367. An exceptional example, the strike is so perfectly executed that in areas it appears prooflike, referring particularly to the fields besides Charles II's portrait (which demonstrates a comparatively softer strike as is typical) and on the reverse, which are exceptionally smooth and unmarred. The overall coloring is a gorgeous steely-gray, with devices outlined in a soft gold patina and a great deal of original luster blushing through giving a wonderful sense of depth. The joint highest certified example with just one other, this superb offering is one for the advanced collector of Halfcrowns.
