Great Britain
Anne 1/2 Crown 1708 MS63 NGC, KM525.3, S-3604. A very difficult type to obtain in Mint State; Anne's coinage tends to exhibit shallow engraving and weak striking, a troublesome combination. This piece, however, displays comparatively high relief to the Queen's portrait, the bold devices illuminated by a cloak of deep cobalt. On both sides the strike is central enough so as to leave a raised rim lined with dentils, giving a charming almost pattern-esque appearance. To upgrade on this Halfcrown would be a challenge indeed, and it would be a fine addition to any top-shelf collection of British silver.
