George III gilt-copper Proof Pattern Guinea 1798 PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC, KM-Pn64 var., W&R-109 var. By Conrad Kuchler. A fantastic Pattern of superb production quality, executed in the same 'Cartwheel' style as introduced the preceding year; broad, matte rims frame George's elaborately engraved portrait, the fields behind flashy and reflective. The gilt coat so pristine as to give this piece a firmly aurous appearance, full original color of a butter-yellow, the eye appeal enchanting and the preservation absolutely unmatched. This piece represents the sole PR66 graded by NGC with just one other at PCGS; we sold that example in our January 2015 NYINC sale for a hammer price of $4,400, and four years on we can only anticipate the final price this superb premium gem will achieve.
