Victoria gold Sovereign 1838 UNC Details (Cleaned) NGC, KM736.1, S-3852. A superb survivor, the rare first date Sovereign produced during Victoria's reign (and predating her 1839 Proof set). Although the obverse does exhibit evidence of cleaning, this has done little damage to the surfaces themselves and thus we still see sleek devices with lustrous peripheries. The reverse is wonderful, firmly prooflike with flashy fields exhibiting die polish lines, the shield more frosty and matte. 1838 Sovereigns are not offered for sale too often, so do not miss your chance to obtain your own for your collection.
