Victoria gold Sovereign 1879 AU Details (Repaired) PCGS, KM752, S-3856A, Marsh 90 (R4). One of the key London Sovereign dates, the 1879 had a mintage of just 20,013 pieces; accordingly, only a few Sovereign collections include the date today. This example exhibits some smoothing to the obverse, presumably to disguise bagmarks which are still present on the reverse. It remains, however, a handsome rarity, boldly rendered with lustrous surfaces. Certainly a piece for the advanced Sovereign collector, and sure to garner significant interest.
