Great Britain
Victoria bronze Proof Pattern 2 Cents 1857 PR64 Red and Brown PCGS, Peck-1975. A bright and curious pattern, heralding from the mid-19th century initiative to introduce decimalization to Britain. Besides some darkening to the obverse edge at 10 o'clock, the planchet is almost entirely imbued with fresh mint luster and a great deal of original red color, the strike and full and definitive. Seldom seen at auction let alone in this premium grade, a superb piece of British numismatic history with tremendous eye-appeal.
