Victoria gold 5 Pounds 1893 MS62 NGC, KM787, S-3872. Elements of this 5 Pound coin are Prooflike, in its reflective fields and sharp strike. Much of its charm, however, lies in the very opposite: in that it is not a Proof. One is so used to seeing Proofs of this year that to see a currency issue with cartwheel luster and a different coloration is a welcome change. Boldly struck, hints of a light peach tone shimmering across its surfaces, bearing few scars from circulation. A thoroughly pleasing large gold offering, and certainly one for the discerning.
