Ottoman Empire. Abdul Aziz Proof Pattern 2 Piastres AH 1281 (1864/5) PR64 NGC, Tunus mint (in Tunisia), KM161. Near flawless, with bright mirror fields beneath a gorgeous russet-gold crescent of patina on each side, this rare one-year type is noted for omitting the name of the Bey of Tunis. This is the only certified PF of this type by either PCGS or NGC, the only other an MS65 NGC. A beautiful and well-struck pattern worthy of close numismatic attention. Very rare.
