Netherlands East Indies
Sumatra. British East India Company "Fort Marlbro" 2 Sukus AH 1197 (1783) XF45 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM271, S-941. An outstanding example from this two-year issue that was struck for circulation in and around Fort Marlborough, the principal hub of operations for the East India Company on the island of Sumatra. Fairly well centered, with handsome gunmetal tone that covers the fields and even wear over the raised elements. Currently the finest certified example of this date at NGC.
