Catherine II gold 5 Roubles 1778-CПБ AU53 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-C78b, Bitkin-76 (R), Petrov 12 Roubles. Obv. Crowned and draped bust of Catherine II right. Rev. Cruciform crowned shields with date in angles. Well struck and quite pleasing for the stated grade with abundant remaining mint luster. A few light contact marks are noted, none of which are of singular importance. Only two examples have been certified by NGC and PCGS combined with this the finer of the two. Much rarer than one might expect.
