James VI (I) gold Sword and Scepter 1602 AU53 NGC, KM20, S-5460. 4.99gm. Wholly admirable, the offering brings a degree of luster and fullness of design rarely encountered with this issue. The legends are clearly legible throughout both the obverse and reverse, with all central devices fully outlined due to a sound strike, and the sword and scepter, after which the issue is named, standing in good relief against the surrounding fields, which are pleasantly glossy.
