Caracas. Royalist 2 Reales 1820 Caracas-BS MS61 NGC, KM-C6.2. "B. - .S" variety. A rare and collectible type that is differentiated from KM-C6.1 by the placement of the castle (versus a rampant lion) in the upper left quadrant of the reverse cross, and, on the obverse, the period is before the S (.S) rather than after the S (S.). We have only seen 3-4 examples of this conditionally rare type and neither NGC, or PCGS, lists this very collectible variety in their census. Well struck for the issue, with mottled argent-gray and blue-gray patina over lustrous surfaces. Minor contact marks are noted and this is, by far, the finest example we can reference and the only Mint State piece.
