Caracalla, as Augustus (AD 198-217). AR quinarius (14mm, 2.11 gm, 12h). NGC Choice VF 4/5 - 3/5. Rome, ca. AD 208. ANTONINVS-PIVS AVG, laureate head of Caracalla right, drapery over left shoulder / P M TR P XV-COS III P P, Victory advancing left, wreath upward in right hand, palm in left. RIC IV.I -, cf. 212 (Septimius Severus). Very rare.

This coin is muled with an obverse die of Caracalla and a reverse of Septimius Severus. There is a known quinarius example of the opposite mule with an obverse of Septimius Severus with the proper reverse type for Caracalla and legend PONTIF TR P XI COS III (RIC 101).
