SICYONIA. Sicyon. Ca. 431-400 BC. AR stater (24mm, 12.09 gm, 5h). NGC XF 5/5 - 3/5. Chimaera standing left, raising forepaw; ΣE below / Dove flying left within wreath. BCD Peloponnesos 186. SNG Lockett 2321 (this coin). Toned. Rare.
The neck of the goat's head on the back of the Chimaera was apparently removed from the coin after striking or removed from the die before striking (light marks are visible under the toning).
