PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter, as Satrap (323-305/4 BC). AR tetradrachm (28mm, 15.66 gm, 12h). NGC Choice AU★ 5/5 - 5/5, Fine Style. Attic standard, in the name of Alexander III the Great. Alexandria, ca. 311-305/4 BC. Diademed head of deified Alexander III right, wearing elephant skin headdress and aegis / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Athena advancing right, brandishing spear and holding shield; ΔI, helmet and eagle right in right field. Svoronos 169. SNG Copenhagen 30. Choice toning.

There has been debate among numismatists as to whether the large Δ to right of the tip of the elephant's ear is actually a delta or if it is simply the top point of the aegis. This coin seems to have a nearly microscopic Δ just to the right of the elephant's ear but also just to the right of the top point of the aegis.
