Pedro I gold 6400 Reis 1827-R MS62 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM370.1, Russo-634, Fr-109. A great Brazilian rarity with a total mintage of just 637 examples. Our research concludes that only a handful of sales records populate within the past decade, further attesting to this coin scarcity. At MS62, this offering is near the apex of an otherwise minuscule population of certified examples, currently tied for second-highest certified grade, and with just a single example across both PCGS and NGC grading MS64. Closer inspection shows marvelous detail, due in part to a complete strike across all major design elements including Pedro's bust, which shows not a single significant mark or distraction. The fields are mildly reflective, with only light instances of handling preventing an even greater mirroring. An altogether brilliant offering, one that few collectors will be fortunate enough to even encounter, much less acquire, particularly in this impressive near-choice condition.
