Vittorio Emanuele III gold 100 Lire 1937-R Anno XVI MS64 PCGS, Rome mint, KM84, Pag-651. Obv. Head of Vittorio Emanuele III right. Rev. Male figure striding left, holding fasces. Struck following the conquest of Ethiopia and highlighting the burgeoning influence of Italy prior to World War I. An extreme modern rarity, the final official gold issue of the Kingdom of Italy and from a reported mintage of just 249 of which just 7 have been graded by either NGC or PCGS. Choice for the grade, besides a couple of light contact marks the fields are pristine and glow with a warm luster distributed throughout the planchet, Vittorio's shallowly engraved portrait still needle-sharp. A perpetually popular type seldom seen and even more seldom matched in this lofty near-gem grade, an offering unlikely to re-enter the market for quite some time.
