Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1741 Mo-MF AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM148, Fr-8. Exhibiting essentially no wear, this large-size gold offering has been slightly softly struck on the highest points but in all other regards has been especially well made. An exacting central strike has created an enticing ring of dentils at the edge framing Philip's portrait and reverse shield; the planchet is heavily imbued with luster, with considerable gloss at the peripheries (which is often seen on these types). 8 Escudos become significantly more rare the higher their grade, and so this bold Almost Uncirculated offering is sure to appeal to the grade conscious collector of Mexican gold.
