Netherlands East Indies
Dutch Colony. United Amsterdam Company Daalder (8 Reals) 1601 AU53 NGC, Dordrecht mint, Mintmaster Jacob Janszn de Jonge, KM10, Dav-413, Salveson-11, Delm-1206 (R2), Scholten-1 (RR). This crown represents the earliest trade dollar of the Netherlands in its first decade of overseas expansion into the East Indies. Barely a year after the production of this type was authorized, the trade companies of Holland and Zeeland were consolidated into the United East India Company. Completely wholesome, with just slightest friction noted on the very highest points, and a handsome graphite tone blended with a soft luminescence. Exceedingly rare and eminently desirable.
