CALABRIA. Tarentum. Ca. 281-240 BC. AR stater or didrachm (21mm, 6.61 gm, 7h). NGC AU 4/5 - 3/5, brushed. Sedamos, Fy- and Gy, magistrates. The Dioscuri on horseback cantering left; ΣΩΔ-ΑΜΟΣ below, ΦΥ above / ΤΑΡΑΣ, Taras astride dolphin left, shield decorated with hippocamp and two spears in left hand, Nike in right facing Taras and crowns him with a laurel crown; ΓΥ in left field, waves beneath. HN Italy 1011. Vlasto 782-788. Well struck in choice metal with near perfect centering.
