Republic bronze Matte Specimen Essai 10 Centimes 1898 SP65 Brown PCGS, KM-EA38, Maz-2177. The current chart-topped within the PCGS census and a masterful rendition of this romantic republican design to be sure. Darker bronze patina in the centers begins to lighten more reddened hue once it meets the legends, revealing an overall lack of surface abrasions or handling marks. For reference, we sold an MS64 Brown example for $1645 in our 2014 Auction #3031 (Lot 28064).
