France
Republic 10 Centimes 1914-Dash MS67 PCGS, KM866, Gad-285. Mintage: 3,972. A supreme rarity from the 20th-century French series, its mintage in pure nickel cut short by the outbreak of WWI, resulting in its shockingly low mintage for the period. The fact that it has survived in such a brilliant gem state is all the more remarkable, the surfaces wholly brilliant and boasting of the exacting quality with which they were struck, a mix of satin texture and prolific die polish lines. Tied for the finest certified between NGC and PCGS, we sold another example in this same grade as part of the Feeling Good Collection (Long Beach Auction #3067, Lot 31392) for $4080.
