George II 1/2 Penny 1749 MS64 Red and Brown NGC, KM579.2, S-3719. Outranked by only 2 pieces (one at NGC and one at PCGS) both grading just a single point higher, this bright cupric jewel is awash with luster and reddened color, seemingly unblemished, and lightly stippled with just the tiniest spread of die rust. Some 800,000 halfpennies dated 1749 were shipped to Massachusetts as partial payment to the colonists for their assistance in the Lewisburg expedition.
