George IV 1/2 Crown 1824 MS63 NGC, KM688. One of a total of only 4 examples of the date to be awarded this choice designation from NGC and PCGS combined, and an already conditionally scarce issue in Mint State, this jaw-dropping 1/2 Crown presents a perfect storm of quality and preservation. Among near blemish-free, just peaking on watery prooflike, fields are veritable waves of orange, green, magenta, and cobalt opalescence; the devices are slightly frosty and razor-sharp, without weakness of serious blemish. A must to say the least, and in the present cataloger's opinion nicer than the MS64 specimen we sold in our January 2016 New York Auction #3044 (Lot 29694) for $3172.
