Great Britain
World War I silver Matte Specimen "Battle of Jutland" Medal (1916) SP65 PCGS, BHM-4128, Eimer-1948. 75mm. By H. Stabler. A handsome, large-format issue, sponsored by the Royal Numismatic Society in order to commemorate the British victory over the Germans in 1916 off the coast of Denmark's Jutland Peninsula. Artistically designed, this example retains all the qualities of gem, with rich olive-brown town over near-flawless matte surfaces. Rarely offered, we cite the sale of a similarly fine specimen that brought £1,950 hammer (approximately $3,000 hammer at the time) in a 2013 Baldwin's auction.
