Madura Island. Sumenep Counterstamped 1/2 Real Batu ND (c. 1820) G06 NGC, KM196.1, cf. KM40 (for host). Displaying "Sumenep" counterstamp (VF Standard) on a Philip V 4 Reales 1730 (or 1736)-Mo of Mexico. A surprisingly attractive piece, whose intrigue is accentuated by the rectangular cob shape of the host, itself preserving a rather clear date and mintmark.
