ARGENTINA. Banco Hipotecario de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. 500 Pesos, 1891. P-UNL. PMG About Uncirculated 53.
(BA-232a) Due to continuing economic problems, the government tried a new approach. Since there was not enough gold and silver to back the banknotes, the government issued this series of notes backed by government land. The series had 13 denominations from 5 centavos to 500 pesos. The concept was not accepted by the public and they were heavily discounted.

The first issue of the 500-pesos note, Series A, was probably an interim issue until the notes with the printed signatures and sequenced serial numbers were available. The note was hand-signed by Agustin Roca and Aubone. None of the other issues have a series designation using serial numbers in the place of the series. This is the only known note that is hand-signed with the series designation. Paper Pulls mentioned in the comment section of the holder.
