CANADA-NEWFOUNDLAND. Government of Newfoundland. 1 Dollar, 1920. NF-12d. PCGS Currency Gem New 66 PPQ.
A note that is missing from even the most advanced Canadian collection because there are no finer examples known of the variety. The Newfoundland Treasury Notes of 1920 were issued to deal with a shortage of silver coin (precipitated, as with Charlton notes, by the withdrawal of the cash notes) at a time when the price of silver was very high on world markets. By 1939, about 99% of the total amount of these notes printed had been redeemed and destroyed. Thus surviving examples are already scarce, but usually available in the VF range. The notes get exceedingly rare north of EF, and are even more difficult to find when in search for an original example. This note carries all the desired features from paper quality to margins and complete originality that a true collector could desire. PCGS Currency Gem New 66 PPQ.

Estimate: $20000.00- $30000.00
