AUSTRIA. Trautson. Ducat, 1636. Johann Franz von Trautson-Falkenstein (1621-63). PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield.
Fr-897; KM-30. Three year type. 3.48 grams. Obverse: Small, richly attired bust right as Free Baron and ruling Count of Trautson; Reverse: Unusually rustic crowned quartered Arms displaying the imperial eagle, falcon, cock and ram, escutcheon of pretense bears a horseshoe. Conservatively graded, possessing a sharp strike with virtually no doubling, bright luster in the yellow gold fields and most importantly, essentially no softening of the design highpoints due to circulation. VERY RARE as a type and possibly without duplication for the date, with no other examples appearing in a search of archived auctions.
