Maz-629A. By Tiolier. Obverse: Bust right as First Consul; Reverse: Legend; plain edge marked "ARGENT" with cornucopia (1880-1901) privy mark. A later striking of this type, produced initially to celebrate the occasion of Napoleon's visit to the Paris Mint on the 21st day of Ventose (the 6th month in the French Republican calendar which fell between mid-February and mid-March). Deeply toned with glossy surfaces and a few underlying hairlines that determine the grade. RARE.
