Two trays, one removable, hold eight large and two very large medals. The two largest pieces are 140 mm with portraits of Napoleon on one, and conjoined busts of Napoleon and Empress Marie-Louise on the other. The other medals are 67-86 mm and include Bramsen numbers: 35, 40, 299, 475, 476 and 1028 as well as Julius-14 and Hennin-23. The medals portray personages and events leading up to the Revolution, Consulate and Napoleonic Empire periods, 1789-1810. The case has a gilt Napoleon family Coat of Arms embossed on the front and back, as well as "NAPOLEON / MEDALS" and "BY ANDRIEU" (along with four Imperial Eagles) gold-stamped on the spine. The case is complete and original, with normal light wear and distress. All medallions with the obverses appearing to be normal bronze examples, the reverses all blank and with typical leaden finish.
