FRANCE. Ten Piece Cased Napoleon Medals Set, ND (ca. 1815). ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
Includes 10 uniface white metal and/or lead cliches of medals produced by noted French medalist Bertrand Andrieu. Housed in an impressive gilt-stamped leather book style display case. Two trays, one removable, with compartments that hold eight large and two very large medals. The two largest pieces measure 140 mm with anepigraphic portraits of Napoleon on one piece and conjoined busts of Napoleon and empress Marie-Louise on the other. The other medals are 67-85 mm and include one side of Bramsen numbers: 35, 40, 299, 475, 476 and 1028 as well as Julius-14 and Hennin-23. The medals portray personages and events leading up to the Revolution, Consulate and Napoleonic Empire periods, 1789-1810. Napoleonic Crest gold-stamped onto the front and back "covers", with "NAPOLEON / MEDALS / BY ANDREAU" and 4 eagles on the "spine". There is some light wear and distress to the case, but the blue velour interior is especially fresh. All pieces with very attractive silver-gray patina, instead of the copper finish in which these are usually seen.

Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
