Britannia seated facing left presenting wreaths with right arm extended, altar to right; Reverse: Inscription: "A / Mr LEIGH SMITH / EXPLORATIONS / DANS L'OCEAN ARCTIQUE / 1871-1873 / 1880" within central medallion surrounded by wreath and legend: "SOCIETE DE GEOGRAPHIE / PRIX FONDE PAR A.
