The Brandenburg-Franconia line considered themselves the senior branch of the Hohenzollerns although they never achieved the status of the Hohenzollern rulers of Brandenburg-Prussia. After Albrecht's death, the Franconian line was permanently divided into Brandenburg-Ansbach and Brandenburg-Bayreuth.
