GERMANY. Braunau. Uniface Octagonal Siege Ducat, 1743. Bavarian Forces under Duke Ludwig Friedrich von Sachsen-Hildburghausen (1743). NGC MS-62.
Fr-393; KM-11; Hollmann-39. 16.8 x 16.3 mm. 3.43 grams. Obverse: Crowned Saxon arms between palm fronds, crown dividing "17 - 43", legend:

"BRAVNAV - L:F:H:Z:S:, 9/ MAY". From a short-lived series as one might expect from a necessity issue, with three denominations struck in lead-tin, four in silver and three, all VERY RARE, in gold. Quite possibly the very finest extant of this ducat denomination, the strike is ideally centered and the detail remains entirely crisp. Reflecting its past delicate care, the fields maintain admirable flash with glowing reddish orange toning accents. To date, the only example of any gold denomination from this siege (1/2, 1, and 2 ducat) to be certified by NGC or PCGS.

Estimate: $10000.00- $15000.00
