GERMANY. Brunswick. Haus Order of Henry the Lion Grand Cross Set of Badge and Breast Star, ND (Instituted 1834). ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
Barac-57 and 61; Werlich-482-483. The badge 88 x 62 mm, inclusive of hanger. The attractive and finely applied multi-color enamels are complete except for a couple areas of the white ring to the left the horse, and a tiny chip from the red lining on the reverse of one of the crowns. A 102 x approximately 1700 mm gold-bordered red accompanies the badge. The multi-rayed Breast Star is made of gilt silver with red and blue enamels, and measures 88 mm at its widest point. The reverse is inscribed: "AUGUST LEMME / JEWELIER & GRAVEUR / IN / BRAUNSCHWEIG", and is equipped with a single hinged tunic pin. An exceptional set, quite handsome and RARE.
