GERMANY. Saxony. Taler, 1740. Friedrich August II (1733-63). NGC AU-55.
Dav-2668; KM-902. Friedrich August II was elector of Saxony and King of Poland. On the death of the emperor Karl VI in 1740, he assumed the office of vicar of the empire until such time as a new emperor could be elected, for which occasion the elector issued this Taler. Nice strike with an expressive portrait. A lovely example worthy of a premium bid.
