GREAT BRITAIN. Copper 1/2 Penny Pattern, ND (1701-14). Anne (1702-14). NGC PROOF-63 BN.
P-728 (but bronzed). Obverse: Bust of Anne left; legend around. Reverse: Britannia seated left with spray of olive leaves in hand and crown above; no surrounding legend or text beneath exergual line. Exceptionally glossy in the fields and full struck on the designs with remnants of faint die rust (as is always the case) appearing on the reverse upon magnified inspection. A RARE and underrated issue, this being one of several types thought to have been created during Isaac Newton's copper-striking experiments as acting Master of the Royal Mint.
Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
