GREECE. Copper-Nickel Drachma Pattern (Essai), 1915. Paris Mint. PCGS SP-65 Gold Shield.
KM-E32; Karamitsos-T.86; Divo-P100var. (struck in copper-nickel). Engraved by K. Dimitriadis. Struck for the Kingdom of Greece after the accession of the new King Constantine I. Initially these types were to be struck in silver, but that plan was cancelled due to the price of silver being higher than the face value of the coins. A premium piece for the assigned grade, this coin has obviously been carefully preserved since striking, with virtually no handling over the surfaces and strong lustrous glow in the fields. Light flecks of tone over both sides help confirm ages of undisturbed storage and absolute originality. VERY RARE and only the second example that we have seen offered in recent memory.

From the Collection of Dr. James Eustace Bizzell, II.

Estimate: $8000.00- $12000.00
