JAMAICA. 6 Shillings 8 Pence, ND (1758). George II (1727-60). PCGS EF-45 Gold Shield.
KM-8.5. Act of 18 November 1758. Central floral "GR" countermark struck on both sides over a 1758 Peruvian (Lima Mint) 8 Reales. We have sold a number of "GR" counterstamps on Mexican 8 Reales, but this is our first offering of this counterstamp on a Peru 8 Reales. Regardless of host, a fine example of this popular West Indies type, displaying pale iridescent gold and purple tone over delicately handled surfaces. While not a major deterrent to the eye appeal, a number of small planchet fissures appear along the edge to the left of the date (as well as along the corresponding reverse edges) and are mentioned purely for the sake of accuracy. Countermark grade: EF Details.

Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
