MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1626/5-Mo D. Mexico City Mint. Philip IV (1621-65). NGC VF Details--Holed.
Sedwick-M18a, KM-unlisted; Cal-unlisted. Clear date, mintmark and assayer initial. Type is not clearly a Royal or a Cob issue. The peripheral legends, including the overdate, are mostly visible, and striking took place on a flat, even flan, uncharacteristic of contemporary cob issues. Nicely detailed in the centers as well, with deep gray tone in the recesses emboldening the raised portions of the design. An interesting and possibly unique piece.
