Fr-53; KM-161.1; Cal-Type-20#62. RARE; all colonial era gold from the Guadalajara mint are rare to extremely rare, the piece offered here being no exception. From the last year of Spanish Colonial rule in Mexico and highly desirable on this basis alone. This example remains in particularly desirable quality, with original color in the minimally marked fields and a strike that is decidedly above average for the issue, the detail on the bust of Ferdinand VII bordering on complete while only slight softness appears in the reverse shield. For the collector that has been searching for an example of this elusive type, we suggest he or she carefully considers this offering, as survivors that are more wholesome than the present piece are truly few and far between.
