MEXICO. War of Independence. Possibly San Martin de Texmolucan, Puebla. 8 Reales, ND (1811). NGC VF-35.
KM-B6 (Colombia); El-SM1, pg. 233 (Santa Marta). Counterstrike grade: AU Details - Standard. Oval dotted "S.M." and oval linear "VBP" monogram countermarks on a cast silver 1810-HJ 8 Reales (KM-110). Manufactured on crude host as is always the case, with two strong countermarks, the "VBP" fully complete with evident luster, while the "S.M." is nearly full. Both sides display medium gray tone. Very choice quality for this controversial (uncertain origin), highly coveted issue.
