MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1848-GC MP. Guadalupe y Calvo Mint. NGC AU-58.
KM-377.7; DP-GC05. On the cusp of Mint State with strong luster in the fields and incipient toning that mostly clings to the edges. Resplandores notes that this date is "usually poorly struck on defective planchets", but this example is rather sharp, displaying a full LIBERTAD on the cap and mostly complete eagle's feathers. Extremely popular as a type due to the short-lived nature of the mint and RARE in this quality; sure to be immediately recognized as special by the specialist.
Estimate: $1800.00- $2600.00
