MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1867-Pi CA. San Luis Potosi Mint. NGC MS-62.
KM-377.12, DP-Pi54. Classified as "Very Rare" in Resplandores with the additional comment that "perhaps three or four choice specimens exist in the Extremely Fine to Uncirculated area." This example would certainly fall into the "choice specimen" classification, with vibrant satiny luster in the fields and a strike that falls just short of complete. A few slight handling marks are observed around the Cap and Rays motif, but these fall well within the confines of the assigned grade. Easily the finest we've seen and considering its unsurpassed certified grade, a coin that is very much in consideration for the finest known of the issue.
Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
