Attractive quality for this EXTREMELY RARE date, displaying a near complete strike with soft tone in the fields and surfaces that reflect typical circulation with a number of small handling marks and a touch of softening on the highpoints. An important coin for the specialist, with only a single other example of the date appearing in archived auction results. That piece, part of the Joseph R. Lasser collection sold by CNG in 2015 for $7,500 hammer, was slightly sharper on the highpoints, but displayed some edge roughness that may have resulted in a "details" grade if certified.
