PARAGUAY. Peso, 18XX. NGC MS-63.
cf.KM-PnE37. Struck on an 1882 Argentina Peso. Produced in the latter half of the 20th century from original pattern dies that had been smuggled from a museum, were clandestinely used to overstrike contemporary coinage in very small quantities, and were then purportedly returned to their rightful home. This example displays crisp detail throughout with faint cloudy tone in the fields and visible remnants of the undertype on both sides. Infrequently offered and with no originals known from these dies, the only way for collectors to acquire the type.
Estimate: $2000.00- $3000.00
